Please note that inclusion on this list does not imply endorsement by me of any of these services although I will not include businesses or groups that I receive legitimate complaints about. I have not personally had occasion to use most of the database or investigative services listed, and I urge every searcher to obtain references and do their homework before paying an investigator, search group, or database search firm.
Acc-u-data Another database/information service with DMV searchers, etc. I have not used them so cannot attest to their credibility, but their prices and variety are reasonable
Adoption Jigsaw Tasmania Great resources for persons living in or adopted from Tasmania, Australia
Birthquest. I have removed my link to Birthquest as they now charge an unreasonable fee, IMO. Several free registries can be found on my reunion registries page.
Carter's Adoption Search Page Includes archives of 'searching for' posts and some nifty guides on searching and contact
DATATRAC Search and Locate Services Has a no-find, no fee policy, unusual for this type of service, claims to specialize in adoptee searches. Also offers a $100 search of the CA birth index w/ additional skiptracing advice at no charge.
Family History Center Official Website The Latter Day Saints have perhaps the most complete libraries of genealogical information in the world, in the form of Family History Centers. The main FHC is in Salt Lake City, but there are local FHC's all over the world, in most cities. This site will provide you with research outlines, locations of FHC's, and more. PBN Reunion Bureau I would pass on the paid reunion registry and use the free ones instead, but PBN offers fair prices on their database searches, including a first name and SSN search.
The Seeker Magazine A Website for people seeking people, it includes a registry and specifics for adoption-related searching
